About Your teacher
Hello, my name is Keith Stead, and I am the teacher at Tsubasa English.
I am a qualified teacher from the United Kingdom with many years of teaching experience in both the UK and Japan. Before coming to Japan, I worked as a school teacher in the UK for 13 years, teaching music and working with students of many different ages.
In 1997 I came to Japan because I wanted to teach English as a foreign language and help students develop real communication skills. I obtained the CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and began teaching in English conversation schools.
After a number of years working in eikaiwa schools, I began teaching at Fukuoka Futaba Junior and Senior High School, where I taught for 18 years.
During this time I worked closely with Japanese students to help them build confidence, improve their understanding of English, and develop stronger communication skills.
I enjoy living and working in Japan, and I especially enjoy helping students discover that they can learn English and use it with confidence. My goal as a teacher is to support each student and help them become the very best they can be at using English.
